Nancy Jarrell

Nancy Jarrell O’Donnell

Nancy is the founder, Executive Director and President of The Lacey Jarrell Foundation. She is Lacey’s mother and also the mother of a son Will Jarrell, a criminal defense attorney in San Diego. Nancy holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling/Psychology and is a licensed psychotherapist. She worked at Sierra Tucson for over 15 years as a therapist and as Clinical Director. Her expertise is in the treatment of addictions and trauma. She is the author of The Sabino Model: Neuroscience Based Addiction and Trauma Treatment which she put into practice at a 50 bed residential behavioral health facility she co-founded. She developed every aspect of the clinical program, wrote the mission and vision statements, policies and procedures, is a national presenter, published author, and has a unique versatility in the field of in-patient treatment.  Her fascination with learning about the brain and human behavior led her to the research she compiled to provide The Sabino Model: Neuroscience Based Treatment For Addiction and Trauma in a 35 day program using empathy, compassion, and nurturing to help those who suffer. Nancy has counseled thousands of individuals and families over the years addressing issues around addictions, trauma, mood disorders, traumatic grief, PTSD, and other mental health issues. As a result of her loss she now also specializes in working with other bereaved parents. She currently works from her own private practice in Tucson; Integrative Psychotherapy & Wellness, PC. Nancy has been an avid horsewoman since childhood and is an animal lover. Some of her pass times include horse show performance, yoga, neuroscience study, writing poetry, hiking, working out, and exploring spiritual teachers and practices. Her two children have been her greatest passion.

 

Jack O'Donnell

Jack O’Donnell

Jack is the Vice President of The Lacey Jarrell Foundation. He named and created the design for the logo for Green Star Art and was paramount in helping Nancy to develop the Foundation. Jack has been an amazing friend to both Lacey and Nancy. He took care of Nancy through the first nine months of her grieving process and was instrumental in getting the foundation started. In November of 2010 Jack and Nancy were married.  Jack has held many senior level positions in the business world for over 25 years from President and Chief Operating Officer of Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino to Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Merv Griffin Resorts and has managed staffs with upward of 3000 employees. He was also President and General Partner of Greenville Casino Partners, Inc., CEO and shareholder in Sierra Tucson and Miraval Resort until its 2005 sale to Steve Case. Jack co-founded the residential behavioral health facility with Nancy where as CEO he supported the implementation of Nancy’s new treatment modality The Sabino Model. Jack’s past experience with start-up businesses was vital to the success of the facility. Jack is a published author by Simon and Schuster, a poet, mountain climber, tri-athlete, avid hiker and rock climber, a photographer, animal lover, horseman, and painter. Jack has traveled all over the world, climbing Mount Everest to name only one and helping indigent people but is most passionate about his role as a father to his lovely daughter Laura O’Donnell.

 

Cyndy Neighbors

Cyndy Neighbors

Cyndy is the Secretary of The Lacey Jarrell Foundation and Marketing Chair for all Lacey Jarrell Foundation and Green Star Art Events. Cyndy is owner of Many Hats Advertising, Ltd. which she established in 1996. Many Hats is the culmination of Cyndys’s advertising, design, marketing, and media relationship-building experience in several markets. Cyndy has held over a 25-year career in this industry in Tucson and prior to that had her own design business in Flagstaff, and held a position in design and public relations in Washington, D.C. Cyndy’s broad experience ranges from clients like W.L. Gore to The Folger Shakespeare Library, to National Manufacturers, and most recently Miraval. Cyndy has completed her fourth term as board member of the Tucson Advertising Federation. She won Tucson’s Advertising Professional of the Year Award for 2008. She has also produced and executed the Tucson Advertising Federation’s ADDY awards for the last four years and earned numerous awards since 1992 in print, television, radio, and outdoor. Cyndy and her company are very involved in giving back to the community. She has been instrumental in the creation of The Lacey Jarrell Foundation and promotiong all of the foundation’s events through her pro bono services and generosity. She has been a close friend to Nancy for over a decade and her son Lee is the best friend of Nancy’s son Will. She has also supported the following charities: The American Liver Foundation, The St. Gregory Scholarship Fund Sip Event, Tu Nidito, The Boys and Girls Club of Tucson, The Southern Arizona Aids Foundation, Zoocson, Dine Out for Safety, Angel Charity and will also be the marketing co-chair for The Boys and Girls Club of Tucson 2009 food and wine fundraiser. Currently she is employed with Canyon Ranch.

WILLIAM JARRELL
Will Jarrell, Director. Will Jarrell is Nancy’s son and Lacey’s older brother. Will graduated from The University of Colorado with a B.A. in English. Following a year off to help his mother form the foundation he moved to San Diego, CA where he attended law school at California Western School of Law. He graduated in 2012 and later passed The California Bar Examination. Will currently works as an Attorney of Law in a San Diego firm as a criminal defense lawyer. He also works as an independent contract attorney facilitating corporate and business law. Will’s passion for his family, his intelligence and creativity, and his legal expertise make him a significant director of The Lacey Jarrell Foundation. He provides advice to the board on an on going basis and comes back to Tucson for every event relevant to his sister, Lacey. In June of 2016 he married Katherine Grace Jarrell who is employed the field of marketing in San Diego.

 

Debbie Peck

Debbie Peck

Debbie Peck, a native Tucsonan, has lived in Vail, Arizona since 1981 and is the mother of two and grandmother of three. Debbie is the consummate volunteer having served on the board of The Vail Education Foundation in the 1990’s during which she spent several years organizing events for the local Rincon Valley Festival and other fundraisers to aid in the distribution and acquisition of grant money for the Vail School District improving student education. From 1997 – 2000 Debbie chaired an annual golf tournament in Vail to raise funds for this fast growing school district. She was also co-chairwoman of the American Cancer Society Dinner Relay for Life in 2005 and kept her energy and fundraising skill at a fast pace while being a member of the Steering Committee for Vail Pride Day from 1998 – 2006. Debbie has been a close friend to Nancy and the Jarrell family for 19 years when they first met after working together on the board of The Vail Education Foundation. Debbie’s daughter Sara use to baby-sit for Nancy’s two children, Will and Lacey. Debbie has helped Nancy preserve the memory of her daughter Lacey and her artistic talents by being the Treasurer of The Lacey Jarrell Foundation and spearheading fundraising activities for the foundation and selecting and discovering young artists to join in the foundation endeavors. Debbie’s charisma and dedication have been a vital force in launching the foundation in its still early days. Debbie is now the proud grandmother of several grand babies.

 

Melissa McBeath

Melissa McBeath

Mel is a fourth generation native to the Arizona-Sonoran border. A historian, educator and writer for the Pimeria Alta Historical Society, Mel graduated from Pomona College in Claremont, California. Along the way of enlightenment she discovered Pinot Noir and hence created the popular series Wine In The Real World as part of her fine dining, catering, and restaurant management career. Her passion for wine and skill with entrepreneurial creations drove her career into the wholesale business for over 10 years. The first few years were spent with the largest full service distributor in all facets to its fast track growth as she served as team trainer for the many software systems integration projects through two acquisitions. Mel is always engaged in offering her talents, skill, and expertise to many charities including The Christiani Foundation, Strength Building Partners, Chicanos Por La Causa, and The Tucson Originals. She is also a popular speaker at trade and consumer events. She is the mother of three boys and can shag a baseball very well as she is involved in all of our children’s sport events. Mel’s son was in the car accident with Lacey, and Nancy and Mel have been close friends since their children met six years ago. Mel supports Nancy and her love and care for Lacey through participation as a very active board member for The Lacey Jarrell Foundation. Her creative ideas, computer skills, and restaurant and wine connections have supported all of the Lacey Jarrell Foundation fundraising activities.

 

Sylvia Intrieri

Sylvia Intrieri

Sylvia Intrieri is a native Tucsonan with two children and has been married to her husband Ken for over 24 years. They are joint owners of Ken Intrieri Agency, Inc. and have worked for 15 plus years in the insurance industry. Sylvia and Nancy have been close friends for 25 years. Sylvia is Nancy’s son Will’s godmother. Nancy is Godmother to Sylvia’s daughter Kendra. Sylvia has been an active member and volunteer of her Church and has served as a volunteer for Teen Challenge, Angel Charity, Shop with a Cop, and now serves as a valuable board member for The Lacey Jarrell Foundation. She is an avid runner and enjoys walking, weight training, fishing, traveling, motorcycle riding, and jet skiing. Her contagious sense of humor has kept the foundation focused on the positive even during the hard times.

 

Christina Slater

Christina Slater

Christina has lived in Tucson for 15 years, has been married for 23 years, and is the mother of three children. She is a native of San Francisco. Christina holds an MBA from The University of Arizona and is currently employed as the Vice Chair of Initial Certification at the American Board of Radiology. Christina has been employed in the mortgage and title insurance industries for over 15 years, last serving as a Regional Vice President. She has been a parent volunteer at Fruchthendler School, Ventana Vista, and St. Gregory School and is an active volunteer in the Fort Lowell Girls Soccer Club as well as CFHS football boosters. Christina was a gift to the foundation board as she made contact with Nancy after being moved by the story of losing Lacey and as a result of also having a daughter who is artistic and a soccer player, felt immediately drawn to help the foundation. She has been an amazing volunteer and board member presenting creative ideas and follow through in all that she does. She also enjoys running marathons, hiking in Sabino Canyon and spending time with her family. She is currently employed by TCI Wealth Advisors in Tucson.

Leo Barthelmess, Jr.

Leo received a Maters of Science in Art Education from Syracuse University in 1996. He has taught pre kindergarten through college at the Yonkers Public Schools and currently at The Vail School District outside of Tucson. He is the Chair of The Fine Arts Department at The Vail School District and is also the High School Visual Art coordinator. He has volunteered his time for Vail Pride Day and the Vail Fine Arts Council and is a member of the Tucson Public Arts Council. He is also an adjunct professor of art at Pima Community College and The University of Arizona South. He is an artist and has shown his work in New York, Massachusetts, and Arizona. His talents include painting, sculpting, and computer art with a focus on the human form and expressive qualities of non-representational art. He is dedicated and committed to his students and has enrolled many of his talented students in The Lacey Jarrell Foundation activities and fundraising events providing them opportunities to sell their art and to begin engaging in responsible behaviors to support them in their growth into young adulthood. Leo is married and the father of three beautiful girls.
